The 2010 Illinois Governor Recall Amendment
It's Fake Reform

Currently, the Illinois General Assembly has a monopoly on the gubernatorial removal process by way of impeachment proceedings. Citizen-initiated recall is one way to vest citizens with the ability to remove corrupt or poorly performing elected officials from office. Unfortunately, the Governor Recall Amendment on the November 2010 statewide ballot isn't the reform that Illinoisans deserve...more

    Illinois Supreme Court Justice
    Tom Kilbride
    Democrat
    Questionable statements, actions or inaction:
    YES
The Illinois Reform Commission, appointed by Governor Pat Quinn, had harsh words for Illinois' system of drawing legislative districts, declaring that it "deprives Illinois voters of fair representation," that it places Illinois voters in direct conflict with legislators, and "regardless of which party wins, the people of Illinois are the losers..."

In 2000 Justice Tom Kilbride supported the clearly Gerrymandered District Maps drawn by Mike Madigan.

    Rating Judicial Candidates
Since Illinois voters have the responsibility to elect judges, the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) feels it has an obligation to share with the public information about qualifications of judicial candidates. The lawyers who practice alongside candidates for judicial office are in a unique position to assess the professional qualities that are necessary for good judges.
